Email Intelligence provides both billing integration and client communication management. Billable email work is captured automatically while client-facing communications are managed through secure portal channels with work product protection.
2.Email-Based Billing
All email-based work is automatically captured as billable time:
1. Billable Email Identification
- Client correspondence: Communicating with client
- Opposing counsel communication: Discussing settlement, discovery, or legal positions
- Internal strategy discussion: Emails discussing case strategy or legal analysis
- Expert communication: Emails coordinating with experts
2. Non-Billable Email Exclusion
- Routine administrative emails
- Internal scheduling emails
- Emails with no matter-specific content
3. Time Allocation
- Brief email (< 100 words): 0.1 hours
- Standard email (100–300 words): 0.2 hours
- Complex email (300+ words, negotiation or legal analysis): 0.3–0.5 hours
3.Time Entry Generation
The system automatically generates time entries for email work:

4.Client Portal Email Communication
For client-facing communications, the system provides secure client portal communication:
- Client Portal Messages: Attorneys can send messages to clients through secure portal
- Separate from Email: Portal messages are kept separate from internal emails, enabling confidential internal discussions while communicating appropriately with clients
- Automatic Matter Organization: Client communications are automatically organized by matter
- Document Sharing Integration: Attorneys can share documents through client portal communications
5.Work Product Protection
Automatic work product protection prevents inappropriate disclosure:
- Internal Email Classification: Emails between attorneys discussing strategy are automatically marked as work product
- Client Portal Exclusion: Work product emails are excluded from client portal, even if client has matter access
- Automatic Privilege Assertion: When work product is inadvertently disclosed, system assists in privilege assertion
